Wisconsin is poised to nearly double its power generation from solar panels, following announcements Wednesday by utilities serving the western part of the state. The unprecedented expansion in solar power represents a big shift for the state, which until now has seen such projects housed more on the rooftops of homes and businesses than those undertaken by utilities.
On Wednesday, Dairyland Power Cooperative of La Crosse announced plans to build 15.5 megawatts of solar projects spread across 12 locations in western Wisconsin.
